Historias Innecesarias: Los Narcosatánicos

April 11, 1989. Matamoros, Mexico. A group of Federal Judicial Police agents walks under the sun across a dry field on the outskirts of the city. They are accompanied by a young man, handcuffed, who nods at a spot on the ground. The man is one of the owners of Rancho Santa Elena. The police are looking for the body of a missing American university student. But what they are about to find is far worse. First, one body appears. Then another. And another. In total, the agents exhume 15 mutilated corpses, in various states of decomposition, buried around the ranch. But the most disturbing thing is not the bodies. In a shed on the ranch, the police find a black iron cauldron filled with clotted blood, sticks, a boiled human brain, goat heads, roasted turtles, chicken feet, and coins. Around it, satanic symbols are painted on the walls, black candles burn down, the remains of sacrificed animals are scattered, and a makeshift altar seems straight out of a nightmare.
