The first week of the preliminary round of the Volleyball Nations League 2025 (VNL) China tournament is being held in Xi'an from Wednesday, June 11th. The Japan men's volleyball national team, ranked 6th in the FIVB world rankings (before the start of the match), faced off against China, ranked 24th, on Wednesday, June 11th (Japan time) and won 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-22), starting off their first match of the tournament with a win. The first set started with Japan scoring first. From the beginning, Japan was steadily taking break points. Japan's serve reception was stable, and their side outs were also good. China Tournament Captain Tomita Masama scored a back attack to give the team momentum, and Otsuka Tatsunobu's serve point helped the team maintain a two-point lead.
