#mountaineering #alps The Schönfeldspitze in the Berchtesgaden Alps. Today's tour leads from the Sandten1 parking lot near Maria Alm along a beautiful trail (marked in black) to the Riemannhaus. There are already over 900 meters of elevation gain to be overcome. From there, follow the signs and numerous markings to the start of the climbing sections on the Schönfeldspitze. You'll repeatedly enjoy magnificent views over the Steinernes Meer and all the way to the Watzmann. At 2,653 meters, the Schönfeldspitze is the second-highest peak in the Steinernes Meer and is also called the "Matterhorn" of the Steinernes Meer. On the Schönfeldspitze, you'll find one of the most beautiful, or at least most striking, summit crosses in the Eastern Alps. For this tour, you should have good fitness (1,500 meters of ascent and descent), surefootedness, a head for heights, and alpine experience (climbing at grade 1 up and down). Many sections are very steep and in rocky terrain. The Riemannhaus offers a place to stop for refreshments.
