Create Justice: Miles Hodges, Responding to Creativity
In this excerpt from a series of artist-led instigations presented during the forum, poet and performance artist Miles Hodges performs a selection of poems from his work with inmates at Riker’s Island. Follow the Create Justice project throughout the next year at carnegiehall.org/createjustice. On March 23 and 24, Create Justice: A National Discussion on Arts and Justice was launched by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute (WMI) and the Los Angeles-based Arts for Incarcerated Youth Network (AIYN). Create Justice is a new national initiative focused on the intersection of arts and juvenile justice. During the first convening in a series of three Create Justice Forums, thought leaders, artists, and representatives from non-profit and government agencies led instigations on community, the social incubator, agency and creativity.
