How to Get a Consistent Clarinet Sound in Every Register

Hey, everyone! Today's lesson covers one of the most important warmups you should do every day on the clarinet — a chromatic long tone exercise! This lesson breaks down how to warm up starting from the bottom of the clarinet's range all the way through the altissimo register. Each sequence of this exercise is four whole notes up the chromatic scale followed by four counts of rest. I address chromatic fingerings, alternate fingerings, and enharmonic equivalents when going through each sequence of notes. This exercise builds tone quality, embouchure stability and flexibility, and consistency across every register. 0:00 Intro 0:56 Beginning of the Exercise on Low E 1:31 Exercise Starting on G#/Ab and B Chromatic Fingering 2:10 Exercise Starting on Middle C 2:51 Exercise Starting on E with Chromatic Fingering for F# 3:28 Resonance Fingerings for Throat Tones and Changing to 3rd Partial 4:45 Exercise Starting on C Above the Break 5:07 Exercise Starting on E and F#/Gb Chromatic Fork Fingering 5:37: Exercise Starting on G#/Ab Above the Staff 6:05: Exercise Starting on Thumb C and Changing to 5th Partial 6:53 Exercise Starting on Altissimo E 7:26 Optional Step: Going up to Altissimo C 8:08 Outro This video builds directly off concepts from previous videos so make sure you've checked those out first!    • Crossing the Break Gets Easier When You Un...      • Crossing the Break Gets Easier When You Un...      • How to Play Without Tension | Clarinet Han...   Try the exercise along with me and listen carefully for evenness and clarity in your sound across the full range of the instrument.
