PREDATOR: BADLANDS MADE US FALL IN LOVE WITH A YAUTJA!? In this Mom & Daughter Reacts video, Tessa (Mama’s Geeky) and Lorie dive into Predator: Badlands (2025), and WOW — this instantly became Lorie’s favorite Predator movie by a mile… and honestly, probably mine too! We absolutely LOVED this film. From the moment it started, it felt fresh, bold, emotional, and unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the Predator franchise. What makes Badlands so special is how much time we get to spend getting to know Dek, the Yautja — truly seeing the world through the Predator’s eyes. This movie opened our eyes to an entirely NEW side of these iconic alien hunters. The cast is phenomenal. Elle Fanning (The Great, Super 8, Maleficent) is incredible with her dual performances, nailing the emotional beats, the humor, and the intensity. She anchors the entire story beautifully. I am so not used to hearing my name, Tessa, over and over in a movie! And why did she have to be evil? Sigh. The character we fell deepest in love with is Bud — an absolute standout and a character we desperately want MORE of. He is so stinking adorable! And of course — Dek, the Yautja himself. This film gives him depth, personality, humor, and emotional weight in ways we never expected, and seeing this side of a Predator absolutely blew us away. We LOVED him. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Prey, 10 Cloverfield Lane), the film proves once again that he understands this franchise on a deep, creative level. The visuals are stunning, the creature design is incredible, the action is intense, and the storytelling is next-level. Badlands expands the Predator universe in such a meaningful way. Key Moments We Reacted To: We couldn’t stop laughing at the banter and fish-out-of-water humor, and we LOVED the bonding moments between Dek and Thia. The emotional scenes between Elle Fanning’s characters had us hooked, and watching Dek’s inner conflict when deciding if he wanted a pack or not unfold added so much depth. The action sequences were brutal, clever, and beautifully shot, especially the show-stopping final confrontation that left us cheering. The quieter emotional beats, the moments of connection, the comedic timing, and the shocking final tease that hints at more Predator stories to come had us freaking out.
