Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has sent an open letter to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, urging a meeting to end the war between Russia and Ukraine along the current contact line, insisting it is in Putin’s interest as his economy struggles and military losses mount, even as he achieves limited gains. Putin said he never ruled out a meeting but first needed to agree to hold one, building on what he agreed with US President Trump in Alaska last year, where the US leader reportedly agreed that Ukraine must give up Donbas to stop the war.
