After this, each adjacent pair of restrictions defines an independent segment whose actual heights are fully determined by the two endpoints. Within any such segment the height rises from one endpoint and falls to the other, forming a peak in the middle; with distance d and height difference htDiff, the surplus d - htDiff is split evenly to climb up and back down, giving peak = max(leftHt, currHt) + (d - htDiff)/2.
