Significance of Netrotsava : Spiritually Significant? ​1. The Restoration of Divine Mercy ​In Hindu theology, receiving Darshan (beholding the deity) is a reciprocal act—you look at the Lord, and the Lord looks back at you. By drawing the pupils, the deities' divine vision is restored. It signifies that the Supreme Lord is once again ready to cast His glance of unconditional mercy and compassion upon the universe. ​2. The Feast for the Devotees' Eyes ​For fifteen days, the temple remains quiet and the devotees are "thirsty" to see the Lord. Netrotsava is the first time the public can view the newly repainted, radiant, and youthful deities (referred to as Nava Yauvana Darshan). The visual reunion is so powerful that it is likened to thirsty bees finally finding nectar in a lotus flower. ​3. The Reawakening of Appetite and Life ​Once the eyes are opened, the deities' health is officially fully restored.
