SETÚBAL é uma cidade sede de concelho e capital de um distrito com o mesmo nome. O município de Setúbal é limitado pelos municípios de Sesimbra, Barreiro, Palmela e pelo Estuário do rio Sado. Em Março de 1249, Setúbal recebeu foral, concedido pela Ordem de Santiago. No reinado de D. João II foram iniciadas as construções da Praça do Sapal (hoje Praça de Bocage) e um aqueduto, em 1487, que conduzia a água à vila. O título de "notável villa" foi concedido, em 1525, por D. João III.
