How to wrap a cable: OVER-UNDER! Please learn this before your first production gig!

In this video I walk through the over-under coil. I use this for all types of cables from short microphone XLR cables to 200-Ft snakes (though I altered the method so that the weight of the cable is actually on the ground - maybe I can show that in a different video). Over time your cables will actually get better! they will lay flatter and have less issues when being tapped down and just look better. If you work in production, especially if you are responsible for paying for your own equipment, taking care of your cables is very valuable. They are the most common thing to fail, and good cables can be quite expensive. While they are repairable, one bad cable can take down an entire gig! In the second half of this video I tell the story of how the importance of an over-under coil was burned into my brain. For several years in the Summer I worked in the morning and then interned with Columbia Records and Gold Record winning engineer Jim Reeves, at Reeves Audio Recording. The studio was located in Evanston, Illinois, at that time. I learned many invaluable lessons that have helped me and continue to be a part of the productions I get to work in everyday! Thanks Jim!
