Winter Birding in Southern New Mexico: The Rio Grande.

In this video, we visit five of the best winter birding areas in southern New Mexico. We start in Socorro with a visit to the world-renowned Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. We then head south along Interstate 25 to New Mexico's largest lake, Elephant Butte Lake and Paseo del Rio. Twenty miles to the south, Percha Dam and Caballo Lake State Parks are both excellent birding areas. We complete our trip with a visit to Leasburg Dam State Park located north of New Mexico's second largest city, Las Cruces.
