The same lens produces the same out-of-focus performance. Let's create a simple experiment and find out for ourselves. 1. When using the same lens, full-frame and crop cameras produce the same out-of-focus performance. 2. Create a paper screen on the lens (not attached to the camera) and visually observe the resulting image circle. 3. Take actual photos of the full-frame and crop cameras and compare them in Photoshop. When viewed in Photoshop, the images are exactly the same, except for slight exposure differences due to camera settings. 4. So why do people think crop-sensing cameras produce less out-of-focus effects? To capture the same angle of view with the same lens, the photographer must shoot from a greater distance with a crop-sensing camera than with a full-frame camera.
