In March, I installed a trail camera beside a remote forest river and expected to check it regularly. But nature had other plans. Heavy rainfall caused the river to rise by more than 1.5 meters (5 feet), completely cutting off access to the camera for nearly two months. When I finally managed to reach it again, I had no idea whether it was still working. What I discovered on the memory card was far beyond my expectations. Roe deer, stags, foxes, badgers, wild boars and other elusive forest animals had continued to use this hidden wildlife corridor while the river transformed around them.
