Another distillery Jim Swan helped create was Amrut, an Indian malt whisky that launched in 2004. Until Paul John's arrival in 2012, it was the only whisky from India that could be exported primarily as what Indians call "whiskey," which is more closely related to rum, as it's made with molasses rather than grain. And as such, "whiskey" isn't recognized in any country in the world. Russia is probably the only country where you can find a significant amount of Indian "whiskey" on the shelves.
