He is a transformed version of Zasalamel after he absorbs the powers of both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur. He is also the final boss of the game. In canon, Nightmare and Siegfried team up to defeat Abyss after being led to the cathedral, this results in the swords regaining their powers and Zasalamel turning back to normal. He does not appear in later games but some of his moves and voice lines are given to Zasalamel in later games. The second fight against Abyss at the end is bass-boosted for some reason. The recording may have glitched. Do you want Abyss to make a reappearance? I think the reintroduction of Abyss and Night Terror would be good, as long as they are somewhat balanced.
