Dune Speed Run - World Record - Day 5 9:00 p.m.

World Record for segmented in-game time when set. Finished on Day 5 at 9:00 p.m. outside the Harkonnen palace. Played 3.5” floppy disk version 2.3 on DOSBox with cycles fixed at 10000. Played between February 14 and 19, 2024. This is a segmented run that uses saves, and this video is edited to show just the segments that were kept. Most saves are for one of two reasons - first, I use saves to cram lots of orders or dialogue into a single in-game time period, and second, I use saves to grind for good battle results, large and proficient prisoner troops, Harkonnen captains to interrogate as needed, and for my espionage troops to evade capture. This run is a 4.5-hour improvement over my previous run from earlier in February 2024 that ended at 1:30 a.m. on Day 6. At a very high level, this improvement came from a new early game route that allowed me to meet Chani at 3:00 a.m. on Day 4, instead of midnight on Day 5 as in my other recent runs. To make this work, I was unable to invest as much time on my military campaign in the early game as I have been recently, and so various aspects of this run are slower than my other recent runs and the overall gains are relatively modest. However, I am excited to finally break into Day 5, almost two years after breaking into Day 6! For more details on my strategy and general tips, please see my earlier runs which are all still up on my page.
