Gordon Sullivan in Section 22 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, May 10, 2024. Sullivan was a retired United States Army general who served as the 32nd Chief of Staff of the Army and former president and CEO of the Association of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army in July 1995 after more than 36 years of service.. His legacy as a respected military leader and public servant continues to inspire future generations of soldiers and leaders in the U.S. Army. During his esteemed career, Sullivan was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal twice, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Purple Heart, among others. U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen.
