Flohr-Otis traction glass elevator at Karstadt in Mainz

Although the doors of these elevators open slightly before they have reached a floor, they hesitate to open for quite a while when one of the elevators is called at a floor where it is parked. A bit of the door mechanism can be seen through the windows in the doors. The elevators themselves are very fast, and they seem to be completely original, including the fixtures. Those include directional buttons inside the cab, intended for use by an attendant. While the elevators have a classic leveling speed, the final stop happens smoothly and gives the doors some time to open. At an adjacent parking garage, there are two more old Flohr-Otis elevators:    • Flohr-Otis traction elevator at a parking ...  .
