Dr Rameen Shakur Founder Cambridge Heartwear Interview | Brain Station 23

Dr. Rameen Shakur is an MD, PhD, FRSA, and the Jansen Chair in Cardiology and Regenerative Medicine at MIT, Boston, USA. He previously served as an academic cardiologist and scientist at the University of Cambridge, UK. Dr. Shakur trained at Cambridge, Oxford, and Edinburgh medical schools and completed his PhD on inherited cardiac diseases at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Centre and the Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine at Cambridge. He has held prestigious fellowships including: Cambridge BRC Fellow (Harvard Medical School) Churchill Fellow (Harvard & Mayo Medical School) Peter Kirk Fellow (Karolinska Institute, Sweden) He has also served as a visiting academic at BUET. Dr. Shakur is the author of four textbooks, numerous scientific papers, and an advisor to the UK government on medical training and science. As a Bangladeshi, he has made the nation proud through his groundbreaking work — particularly the invention of a wearable device capable of predicting early signs of heart failure or stroke. During his visit to Bangladesh after speaking at the 4th World Conference on Synthetic Biology & Genetic Engineering in Singapore (Nov 2017), Dr. Shakur sat down with Brain Station 23 for an exclusive interview.
