DIY Cymbal Making - 16,5" Brass Heavy Ride
A few years ago I hammered out the last unmodified, 42cm (16,5") round brass blank that I had. Found a small pile of them from a local metal shop/scrap yard, apparently leftovers from some industrial process. Sadly the discs were brass instead of bronze, but otherwise they were perfect for cymbal trickery: perfectly round and uniform, and also the exact center points were marked with a small dent. At that time I didn't have the means to try and shave off some of the immense weight the 2mm (5/64") thick slab had. So here's what my unstable, bootleg drill press setup managed to accomplish!
