In the circle of the largest religious centers of the department of Sédhiou figure kandialon. A locality whose mere evocation of the name recalls in many respects all the deference and know-how of a maraboutic power in this southern part of the country. Kandialon, a town with a Diakhanké majority (local ethnicity of the area), is today estimated at nearly four thousand inhabitants. It is located about sixty kilometers in the North West of Sédhiou, two and a half kilometers from the national road N ° 4 which connects Ziguinchor to Sénoba in the district of Bounkiling. the religious influence of the village of Kandialon dates back to its glorious past under the magisterium of the late El hadji Madiba Diaby Gassama. This native of Guinea Bissau around the 1900s was in turn exiled in Guinea Konakry then in Gambia following the outbreak of the liberation war in the country of Amical Cabral.
