Both people were then able to escape onto the ferry, which then took them to the other bank, where medical assistance was already waiting. Fortunately, both apparently remained uninjured, apart from shock. Numerous emergency personnel from both sides of the Neckar River were immediately alerted to the scene of the accident. Numerous fire departments, rescue services, and various DLRG (German Life Saving Association) task forces were dispatched. The water police were also alerted. The recovery of the tractor and trailer proved extremely complicated. The vehicle and trailer were completely submerged and not visible from the water surface. DLRG divers were deployed. They attached steel cables to the underwater wreckage. The tractor and trailer were then pulled out of the water by a heavy-duty crane. The recovery operation lasted for hours. The approximately 12-ton tractor and trailer were recovered by a heavy-duty crane around 8:00 p.m. No operating fluids leaked. The fire department had deployed an oil spillage recovery system as a precaution. Boat traffic was suspended at 3:45 p.m. By order of the representative of the Eberbach Outer District Water and Shipping Authority, boat traffic between the Hirschhorn and Neckarsteinach locks will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, until further notice. The area of ​​the Neckar River will be checked again during daylight hours for any other objects in the riverbed. Until this check is completed, there will be no ferry service. Numerous onlookers in the town gathered at the scene of the accident and were not deterred by the cordons from watching the rescue operation live on site.
