California Dreamin'-Rudi Gernreich LA Designer who Sparked a Design Revolution (Haul/Collection)
Hello The Way We Wore fans! This episode is an in depth look at Austrian/American Designer Rudi Gernreich, who came to the U.S. in 1938 after leaving his home country Austria, due to Nazi Germany occupation. Gernreich took a democratic approach to fashion design, partnering with knit mills that help produce fun, colorful knits that defined the youth quake of the West Coast. If you live/are visiting LA checkout Fearless Fashion: Rudi Gernreich (on view at the Skirball until September 1st). Gernreich was an innovative designer whose works transcend the decades they were born and continue to mirror the social complexities of society today.
