Bach: Suite inglesa nº 5 BWV 810 | Francesco Tristano

In the English Suites, so named by Bach's first biographer, Johann Nicolaus Forkel, because he considered them to have been written for an English nobleman, we find, however, a perfect fusion of the three great national styles at the beginning of the 18th century: the stylisation of French dances, the virtuosity and brilliance of Italian concertante composition, and the severity of the German contrapuntal textures, which can be as complex as those of the "Allemande" from the English Suite No. 5.
