What a Legendary Reclusive Pianist Taught Me

"Music is born from silence" -Zlata Chochieva PIanist Zlata Chochieva, of Ossetian descent, is winner of numerous awards, over a dozen competitions and has five highly-praised albums to her name. She appeared at the Miami International Piano Festival, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, the festival «Progetto Martha Argerich» in Lugano, the Lucerne Festival, and the Berliner Klavierfestival. Filmed in Berlin in May of 2021 at the b-sharp studios, she reflects with quietude and introversion on her days of intense study with her teacher, the living legend Mikhail Pletnev, as some of the happiest of her life, and what she learned about curiosity for life and a broader outlook on the world of stage. We ask her about what it took her to learn and prepare the Chopin Etudes on stage, and to be well with whatever happens in the moment.
