Shibazakura is a perennial plant native to North America. Its flower shape resembles that of a cherry blossom and spreads across the ground like grass, hence the name. It prefers sunny, well-drained locations and is known for its cold-hardiness. Shibazakura Hill is home to 10 varieties of shibazakura, and when viewed up close, each tiny petal resembles a heart. ◆ Fureai Ranch As the name Hitsujiyama Park suggests, you can interact with sheep at the "Fureai Ranch." The current ranch was originally the Chichibu Branch of the Saitama Prefectural Breeding Farm, which handled sheep, hence the name Hitsujiyama. ◆ Mt. Buko Museum Mt. Buko, with an elevation of 1,304 meters, is designated as one of Japan's 200 famous mountains. The Mt. Buko Museum, located within Hitsujiyama Park, displays exhibits on the flora and fauna, as well as the topography and geology of the area surrounding Mt. Buko. Mt. Buko, composed of limestone, has been mined since ancient times, giving it a whitish appearance from the north. It's always painful to look at! ◆Overlook Hill From Overlook Hill, located on the north side of Hitsujiyama Park, you can see not only Chichibu City but also the distant mountains on clear days.
