I Surprised 3 Kids… with Harry Potter on a Giant Organ!

Three little children walked into the beautiful Marian Basilica in Kevelaer while I was trying the huge basilica organ for the first time — so I decided to surprise them with a melody they would probably recognize: the Harry Potter theme! I started very softly with the magical bell sounds of the organ, almost like a tiny music box echoing through the basilica. But then the music slowly grew into something much bigger: a spontaneous cinematic organ improvisation, mixing the Harry Potter theme with Smetana’s famous “The Moldau” from Má vlast. From soft celesta-like bells to full organ power, this improvisation became almost like a little organ blockbuster — with a touch of Hans Zimmer, a bit of symphonic drama, and the incredible sound of one of Germany’s most beautiful basilica organs.
