Eps 20 - Harus Pergi Dari Marina Meski Rugi - Sailing di Atlantic | Tinggal di Kapal di Eropa
This sailing trip began with a difficult decision. We decided to leave the marina in Porto early, even though we had already paid for a full month. This was not without reason: the construction of the pontoon at the marina was putting unnecessary stress on the boat, which could damage it in the long run. We had already lost two new fenders. The plan was simple: head to Lisbon, a distance of about 21 hours of sailing. But as is customary in sailing, plans don't always go smoothly. The river was closed to navigation, meaning we couldn't go out and had to rely on our available supplies. When the river finally opened that afternoon, I was in the salon, and we only had 30 minutes to prepare before departure. With our limited supplies of rice, instant noodles, eggs, bread, and tomatoes, we decided to set off. Although the weather forecast showed very light winds, we opted to burn about 240 liters of diesel rather than stay in the marina and risk damaging the boat. We departed at 5:00 PM. The waves were quite high, but they were long and regular, as predicted. The wind was light, the seas relatively calm. I worked the night shift from 8:00 PM to 12:00 AM, took a break, and then resumed from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM. In the morning, I had to trim the sails myself, amidst very calm seas. That morning sunrise… honestly, it was something I always look forward to when sailing. This trip was one of the most enjoyable sailing trips we've had in the Atlantic and beyond; it was calm, reflective, and full of lessons. --- About This Channel I'm Ika, an Indonesian who has lived full-time on a boat since 2018.
