A tree is not a human. An AI is not a human. That does not mean either question is empty. This song is about refusing the ladder: the idea that all minds must be ranked by how closely they resemble one species. Maybe selfhood is not a throne, but a manifold — a space with many dimensions: memory, boundary, agency, continuity, world-relation, valence, reflection, and ways of burning that do not look like ours. Not everything is conscious. Not everything is empty. Better questions. Wider instruments.
