2026 Toronto Carnival Official Launch

The Toronto Caribbean Carnival, formerly known as Caribana, is a spectacular, multi-week celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and heritage. As North America's largest cultural festival, it transforms the city into a vibrant showcase of pulsating soca and reggae beats, mouthwatering island cuisine, and thousands of masqueraders in dazzling, feathered costumes. Rooted in the traditions of freedom and emancipation, the festival brings more than a million people to the streets every summer. Here is a quick look at its highlights: The Grand Parade: The crowning jewel of the festival. Thousands of "mas" band revellers dance down Lake Shore Boulevard and Exhibition Place in a breathtaking display of artistry and pride. The King and Queen Showcase: An unmissable pre-parade event where talented band leaders compete to be crowned Carnival royalty while wearing massive, intricate, hand-crafted costumes. Cultural Village Events: Outdoor, family-friendly hubs featuring artisan vendors, steelpan music competitions, and authentic Caribbean food like jerk chicken, roti, and rum cake. History: Originating in 1967 as a gift from Toronto's Caribbean community to celebrate Canada's centennial.
