In today's episode, we take a closer look at the BMW 3GT – a model that has much in common with the classic 3 Series, but offers much more. It's a car that combines the sporty character of the 3 Series with the spaciousness and comfort typical of the 5 Series, all built on an extended platform originally designed for the Chinese market. But the history of the 3GT goes much deeper. The front of this model may evoke memories of the legendary BMW 2000CS, nicknamed "the Chinaman" due to its distinctive, slanted headlights, which gave the car a unique look reminiscent of Chinese facial features. This stylistic feature, which distinguished the "Chinaman" in the 1960s, is an example of how BMW experimented with design, creating cars that were not only functional but also exceptionally stylish. The 3GT also draws on this tradition, albeit more subtly. Its elongated body and increased interior space make it not only practical but also elegant – perfect for long journeys, yet perfectly at home in the urban jungle. In this video, we'll test how the 3GT handles on the road, whether it can truly compete with larger BMW models in terms of comfort and spaciousness, and what emotions it evokes behind the wheel. We'll also consider whether the spirit of the legendary "Chinese" still lives on in this modern Gran Turismo.
