When Bal Ganesh was trotting at night, because of his over-weight he tumbles. Chandrama mocks and laughs at him. Out of anger Lord Ganesh curses Chandrama so that he loses all his brightness. Chandrama realises his grave mistake and apologizes to Bal Ganesh and the Lord promises that his full brightness will appear slowly and then fade away slowly. This will be continuous.
