Yeah so it could be a combination of a retinol or a vitamin A derivative along with say a salicylic acid or it could be resorcinol it could be TCA but this is a peel which looks yellow in color. Therefore the name a yellow peel typically signifies that we want to achieve exfoliation, rejuvenation reduction in the color. So discoloration as well as subsequently anti-ageing properties that is why we as dermatologists use the yellow peel when it contains retinol. It's a wonderful peel even for acne and acne scars. This peel is gently done under the supervision of a dermatologist and I repeat it's very essential that you do this peel not at home but in a clinic setup under the supervision of an expert. The reason being this peel penetrates much deeper than the regular peels which you generally use like AHA or Beta hydroxy acid peels which are more superficial than the yellow peel. Now what are the steps? First important thing is consultation you need to meet with your dermatologist and understand what goals you want to achieve by doing the peel. Second is priming. Since the peel contains active ingredients which penetrate much deeper we generally prime your skin for 15 days before we actually put the active peel on your face. Once the priming is done and you come to the clinic a deep cleansing is done after which an antioxidant serum is applied. We let it dry and then apply the yellow peel which is like a cream. So it forms a thick layer on your skin it looks a little oily in color. Generally when it contains retinol we advise the peel to be kept for a specific number of hours like say a 4 hour or a 6 hour or an 8 Hour depending on how your doctor visualizes your skin and tries to achieve the goals that you want. Once she says you need to remove the peel you generally have to just wash it with cold water. Avoid using a face wash or a cleanser the reason being that the skin has just got a large dose of an exfoliant and you do not want to exfoliate further. You just need to apply your moisturizer and go to sleep the next morning. The most important thing that you need to follow for the next one week almost is sunscreen and moisturization because by virtue of the name peel your skin is actually going to peel and as the skin or the superficial dead layers are peeled off. You feel dry sometimes even burning sensation. But relax that's absolutely normal don't forget to moisturize hydrate yourself and apply your sunscreen at the interval of 2 to 3 hours within a few days to a week you start noticing that there is evening of the skin texture, the tone, the pigmentation starts reducing and you start noticing that your skin is toning up the skin then looks much clearer. After the week you can start using. The other skincare routine that you generally follow especially ask your doctor about the same. This peel is generally recommended every 15 days to a month depending on your skin type and what concerns you have again I repeat that it should always be done in a clinic setup under the supervision of a dermatologist.
