What is it like to live as a Jew in Germany today? Helene Braun lives in Berlin, where she studies Jewish theology and is training to become a rabbi. Peter Finkelgrün was born in Shanghai in 1942, where his parents had emigrated due to Nazi persecution. He grew up in what was then Czechoslovakia and in Israel. After studying in postwar Germany, he worked as an editor for Deutsche Welle and wrote books, among other things. Today he lives and works in Cologne. Helene and Peter have a lot in common—despite their age difference. But one thing in particular: they know what it means to be Jewish in Germany.
