Hit-and-Run, Snowstorm & RV Problems… What a Week!

What started as a simple drive from Texas to Colorado Springs quickly turned into one of the most stressful travel weeks we've had in a long time. Just before leaving Texas, our truck was involved in a hit-and-run style accident when another driver merged into us. Thankfully everyone was okay, but we suddenly found ourselves dealing with insurance claims, body shop appointments, and a race against an incoming Colorado snowstorm. We changed our travel plans, skipped a stop, and pushed hard to reach Colorado Springs before the weather moved in. Along the way we enjoyed a peaceful overnight stay at a Harvest Host winery near Amarillo before making the final drive into Colorado. Once we arrived... Things didn't exactly improve. After setting up our RV at the campground, we discovered our campsite had no water and had to completely move sites in freezing temperatures. The next morning brought snow, but thankfully our RV stayed warm and everything avoided freezing. While waiting for our truck to be repaired, we got the unexpected opportunity to reconnect with old friends, revisit places that meant so much to our family during our years stationed in Colorado Springs, and spend extra time exploring the city we once called home. After nearly two weeks, our truck was finally repaired and we were able to get back on the road toward our next adventure.
