Laid Off Googler Delivers Food (Finds Out How Hard It Is)
After being laid off from my dream job at Google, I started delivering food as a gig worker and found out how profitable (and hard) it really is. In this video, I talk about the pros and cons of being a gig worker and compare it to my previous life in Google and the corporate world. I also analyze how being a delivery rider is rather similar to my time in Google, as both companies employ technologies to monitor, motivate and optimize our working behavior to become more efficient (and how it gets us to keep working harder over time). Join me as I find new-found respect for the hard work and kindness of those in the service industry, while also discovering a new relationship with work (one filled with pride and ownership despite the hard work) 0:00 Intro 0:22 Why This is Personal 0:51 Receiving My 1st Order 1:20 Why Gig Workers Are Making Less 3:17 1 Hour to make $5 3:56 How Apps "Trap" Riders 4:52 How Tech Companies Make Us Work Harder 5:53 How We End Up Paying More 6:58 Gig work Over Corporate Life 8:09 Total Amount I Made Today 8:41 My Reflections and Respect for Gig Workers đWATCH THESE NEXT: I got laid off by Google and Now I'm Financially Free    â˘Â I Got Laid Off by Google and Now I'm Finan...  Laid Off from my $250K Google Job - 5 Harsh Lessons    â˘Â LAID OFF from my $250K Google Job - 5 HARS...  đ¨âđťWho am I?
