Jaecoo 7 review: The Chinese Range Rover
Save up to £3750 on an EV with the Electric Car Grant: https://bit.ly/Electric-Car-Grant-2025 Introducing the Jaecoo 7! It’s a mid-size SUV that originated from China, and at the time of writing it is the most configured car on Carwow! With that in mind, Mat’s got his hands on one to see what all the fuss is about. The key thing to mention is the price. Whereas competitor cars have seen their prices skyrocket in recent years, the Jaecoo comes in at a respective £30,000, rising to £35,000 for the plug-in hybrid. So when you couple that with a Carwow saving of around £2,500, the Jaecoo easily undercuts its key competitors! In terms of the design, it certainly holds a bold presence on the road, and if anything, is reminding us of a Range Rover! Up front, there’s a large, imposing grille which is flanked by headlights that come with graphics built in! Along the side, you’ll find pop-out door handles, and at the back, the car looks smart, with the windscreen wiper hidden at the top of the rear window - just like in a Range Rover! There’s a good amount of tech on the inside. All functions are handled through the large infotainment screen, but the system is pretty responsive and intuitive to use. There’s a digital dial screen, a heads up display as standard, and a good amount of storage throughout the cabin. The seats aren’t the most comfortable, but all-in-all it’s a nice place to be. There are two engines available: a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol that delivers 147hp and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid that puts down 204hp. The former comes with AWD or FWD, while the PHEV is front-wheel drive only. So does the Jaecoo 7 offer enough to sway you away from established competitor brands? Or does Mat think you should stick with what you know? You’ll need to keep watching to see for yourself!
