We caught up with Lancey during a brief 1 day trip to LA, following his show in Vancouver. Releasing his first album PINK in 2017, Lancey Foux gained national notoriety with the release of his 2019 album, Friend or Foux. His song “INDIA” has almost 7 million plays on Spotify alone, while his recent collaboration with Yeat, “Luv monëy” is approaching 3 million streams. At the beginning of their conversation, Lancey shows appreciation to Arshan and the brand he’s built with KTO, before describing how UK rap is less documented and underrated compared to the US. He lists the songs he listens to on a flight (Marvin Gaye, Future, & himself), discusses the “London swag”, Skepta, and how his aesthetic matches his lifestyle.
