The golden era lasted (roughly) from the early 1900's to early 1970's and was a time when Egyptian arts and cinema flourished. During this time we saw some of the biggest names in Middle Eastern music and dance emerge and make their legacies. The song is a classic by Mohamed Fawzi called Fatafit il Sukar. This song appeared in many golden era dance scenes. This version is a live interpretation played by Shahrzad's musical ensemble 'Soot il Sharq'. Designed by Shahrzad and made by Layali Ahmed, the costume is inspired by the lines and shapes of classic belly dance costuming made with modern elements such as crystals and lycra.
