TENOR TALK: Understanding Technical Functions of the Voice! Special Guest: Matthew White In the 2023-2024 season, American tenor Matthew White will perform Don José in Carmen with Vancouver Opera, and a series of Christmas concerts with the Dallas Opera. Future seasons include debuts with the Salzburg Easter Festival and Royal Danish Opera as well as a return to Opéra de Montréal. In the 2022-2023 season, Matthew White performed Alfredo in La traviata with Houston Grand Opera, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Opéra de Montréal, Duca in Rigoletto with Utah Opera, anand Don José in Carmen with Oper im Steinbruch in Austria (European debut). On the concert stage, he sang the Shepherd in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex with Houston Symphony, and Handel’s Messiah with Nashville Symphony and the US Naval Academy in Annapolis. Engagements of recent seasons included role and house debuts including Don José with Santa Fe Opera and Arizona Opera, Rodolfo in La bohème with Detroit Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, and Opera Naples, as well as the Florida Orchestra as the tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah. Matthew also made debuts as Roméo in Gounod’s Roméo et Juiliette with Cincinnati Opera, the Duca in Rigoletto with Edmonton Opera, Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with the Princeton Festival, Lancelot in Chausson’s Le roi Arthus with Bard SummerScape, and the title role in Faust et Hélène with the Houston Symphony.
