IBM Selectric II repairing the carrier returning right leads to a locked keyboard.
I was having a problem where the keyboard became locked after repairing a different issue. There is a piece that moves to block the lever, which is activated with a keystroke, whenever return is pressed. If that piece is not out of the way of the keystroke lever when "resting" you'll get a locked keyboard.
