In this video, I first articulate the reasons why work is so hard in modern society, then discuss solutions to this problem. I explain that the reason "work is so hard" is because "work that increases surplus for the benefit of society as a whole" and "work that earns a lot of money and gains priority in distribution" are contradictory, yet society operates on the assumption that the two are simply compatible. And because so many people work so hard to win in business (to make money), the overall surplus decreases, creating a society in which everyone suffers.
