Firoza Begum Grave and Biography | Firoza Begum Grave and Biography | Singer Firoza Begum | BD Graveyard Date of recording and editing - 27 February 2023 Firoza Begum was born on 28 July 1930 in a landlord family of Ratil Ghonapara village of Gopalganj, Faridpur district. Her father's name was Khan Bahadur Mohammad Ismail and her mother's name was Begum Kawkabunnesa. She died on 9 September 2014 at the Apollo Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 84 due to kidney complications. Her passion for music was born in her childhood. She started living in Kolkata from 1954. In 1955, she married composer, singer and lyricist Kamal Dasgupta. Kamal Dasgupta converted to Islam before marriage and took the name Kamal Uddin Ahmed, and they returned to Dhaka in 1967. The couple has three children - Tahsin, Hamin and Shafin. Hamin and Shafin - both members of the rock band Miles. Vocalist Firoza Begum is famous throughout the Indian subcontinent for her Nazrul Sangeet. She is considered a symbol of Bengali music by the next generation in the Indian subcontinent. In 1979, she was awarded the "Swadhinata Puraskar", known as the country's "highest civilian award", for her outstanding contribution to the arts.
