CADTH Lecture Series -- Reimagining Health Technology Assessment w/ Brian O'Rourke

In 2019, the International Network of Agencies for HTA (INAHTA) and Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi), co-led a joint international task group that published a new definition of HTA. Creating this new and internationally accepted definition was described as a historic achievement and provided a cornerstone reference for today and into the future. Since the publication of this new definition, there have been several factors that have reinforced the new definition and that are contributing to the evolution of HTA principles and practices. In this lecture, Brian will discuss the drivers for change and present his thoughts on how we might want to reimagine HTA. Brian is this year’s recipient of the Dr. Jill M. Sanders Award of Excellence in Health Technology Assessment, which recognizes and celebrates individuals whose outstanding achievements have significantly advanced the field of health technology assessment in Canada. --- En 2019, un groupe de travail international dirigé par l’INAHTA (International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessement) et l’HTAi (Health Technology Assessment international) a publié une nouvelle définition de l’évaluation des technologies de la santé. La création de cette définition, acceptée dans le monde entier, constitue une réalisation sans précédent et sert de clé de voute aux initiatives présentes et futures. Depuis la publication de cette nouvelle définition, de nombreux facteurs viennent étayer la définition et contribuent à l’évolution des principes et des pratiques en matière d’ETS. Brian O’Rourke parlera des catalyseurs du changement et fera valoir son point de vue au sujet des façons de réinventer l’évaluation des technologies de la santé.
