Aidarbek Saparov, Governor of the North Kazakhstan Region, spoke about the socioeconomic development of the region at the Central Communications Service. According to the speaker, the region is primarily agricultural, so one of the key agricultural goals is to reduce import dependence and provide the region with domestically produced staple foods. "Over the first five months of this year, gross agricultural output amounted to approximately 101 billion tenge. This growth was primarily driven by increased livestock production, increased livestock numbers, and processing," the regional governor said. Crop areas this year totaled 4.5 million hectares, including 3.2 million hectares under grain and 960,000 hectares under oilseeds. To saturate the market with socially important foodstuffs, the buckwheat acreage has been tripled, and the potato and carrot acreage has doubled, the governor noted. Spring fieldwork was completed within the optimal timeframe. A total of 200,000 tons of mineral fertilizers have been applied, representing 30% of the national average. The regional governor estimates that a focus on developing livestock farming has increased meat production by almost 7% and milk production by 4.4% in the first five months of the year. He also emphasized that the region annually produces 10% of the national milk volume, or 650,000 tons. This result was achieved through the construction of 30 modern, high-yield dairy farms. The region is beginning construction on 17 more dairy farms with a total capacity of 13,000 head, nine of which will be commissioned this year. "One such complex creates 50 jobs in rural areas. I would like to point out that their construction was made possible by the implementation of a pilot project financed through agricultural production cooperatives. While before 2019, two such complexes were built annually across the country, the North Kazakhstan region is commissioning 8-10 farms annually," the regional governor emphasized. According to him, the interest rate on the project is 2.5%, the funds are issued for 10 years, with a two-year grace period. Starting this year, the North Kazakhstan region's experience will be expanded to other regions of the country. In 2023, 31 agricultural projects worth a total of 77.5 billion tenge will be implemented in the North Kazakhstan region. These include dairy farms, poultry farms, greenhouses, vegetable storage facilities, and more. With the commissioning of the largest extraction oil plant, oilseed processing in the region will increase to 90%.
