In this video, I'll be discussing one of the most fascinating figures in the German labor movement: Ernst Thälmann, chairman of the German Communist Party (KPD) from 1925 to 1944. I'll explore his development from a working-class boy in Hamburg to a leading figure in the German communist movement. This includes Thälmann's childhood and youth in the German Empire, his experiences during World War I, the November Revolution, his activities in the Weimar Republic, and his resistance against the fascists, for which he paid with his life. The focus will be on his personality, his political path, his confrontation with social democracy, his fight against fascism, and the chaos of capitalism.
