Making a Wet Molded Leather Case

This week I'm trying something I've always want to do with leather... Wet Molding! My buddy Derek needed a guitar pick case since he carries some valuable guitar picks. His picks are larger and since they're on the expensive side, we talked about having something that was softer on the inside, but still rigid enough to protect from smashing, which led me to a wet molded case design. Since he had been using an Altoids tin, I decided to make one based upon that shape for this project. Here I'm using a 6-7oz thick Buck Brown Harness leather from Wickett & Craig, however I suggested using something like a 4-5oz thick leather. For the thread I'm using .035" Diameter Maine Thread Company's waxed brown polycord. My feeling was that thinner thread wouldn't suit the thicker leather here. Black Keychains are back in stock!
