Twenty-one days after the double earthquake that shook the country, María Alejandra, a 17-year-old, shares her story of how she managed to escape with her life after being trapped for more than 10 hours under the rubble of a collapsed building in La Guaira. The young woman was rehearsing her high school graduation dance with five friends when the earthquake struck. "It was completely dark, I mean, I couldn't see a thing, but I touched my face and there was dust on my eyebrows," she recounted in an interview with NTN24. María Alejandra was trapped in the fetal position, her feet buried under the rubble, surrounded by debris in complete darkness. During the agonizing hours under the rubble, the teenager demonstrated admirable strength. "It took me about an hour" to free her left foot, which was trapped with her shoe buried under the debris. With determination, she began to move stones and found a small sliver of light that gave her hope.
