The Aqaba Mosque is one of the most important yet least known places in Islamic history. It was in this humble mosque that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), during a period of great oppression in Mecca, secretly met with the Muslims of Medina, received their pledge of loyalty, and the historic Pledge of Aqaba took place. These meetings laid the foundation for the Hijra (migration) and the establishment of the Islamic State of Medina. In this video, I have combined footage of the Aqaba Mosque that I filmed years ago with new footage I recorded during a revisit after its restoration. Thus, you will see both the historical significance of this blessed place and the changes it has undergone.
